Silverton Medical Rescue is the result of the combination of Silverton Ambulance and San Juan County Search & Rescue. Because of this combination, we can provide the highest level of prehospital medical care available in the county and move patients through any terrain, while making sure we provide continuity of care (keeping the appropriate provider with the patient) throughout the incident. It has taken several years, working in coordination with the sheriff, the Board of County Commissioners, the Office of Emergency Management, and Silverton Ambulance/San Juan County SAR, but we believe that by combining the two, we can give our patients the highest chances of survival along with the best outcomes available in our small, remote, mountain town.  This could be a model for other smaller towns and counties to adopt.
