The lecture discusses patient presentations who are having GI/GU emergencies. This will go review basic GI/GU anatomy. It will discuss common signs and symptoms that the EMS providers needs to be aware of. The treatment of patients with GI/GU emergencies.  This lecture will also include a short portion to Rapid Sequence Intubations presented by Dr Branney

Learning Objectives

Be able to name the anatomy of Gastrointestinal and GU system. Be able to describe common signs and symptoms of GI/GU emergencies including GI bleeds, signs of infection and pain patterns. Be able to identify appropriate treatment for patients with GI/GU emergencies and name the importance of early recognition of GI bleeding.

  1. Review indications for intubation
  2. Review the relevant anatomic and physiologic issues associated with intubation
  3. Review the process from selection à to completing the procedure
  4. Review potential pitfalls in the RSI process
