Extremity Injury Related to Snow Sports

Dr. Black and Dr. Baumgartner both presented on orthopaedic extremity injuries, lower and upper respectively. Presented were the correlations between specific injury types and being a snow sport athlete. Both doctors presented case reviews with 3D CT imaging pre/post surgery. Discussed considerations for populations on anticoagulant Rx and the open fracture. Discussed BLS interventions for pain management: splinting and moving an obvious deformity back into anatomical alignment. Discussed ALS pain management with respect to daily THC users and dosing appropriately for narcotics. Both Dr. Black and Dr. Baumgartner are with Summit Ortho Panorama based in Frisco, CO.
